Membership of ALIA

Membership is an important, affordable investment in your profession and career. Any person or organisation interested in library and information services and committed to observing our constitution is most welcome to join.

Membership is available in a number of categories: personal, institutional, or voucher-only. If you are unsure of which category to join or have overseas qualifications, please contact ALIA National Office (please remove '.nospam' from address) for assistance.

What are the benefits?

ALIA membership provide a diversity of benefits for both personal and institutional members. Groups of members throughout the country underpin the activities, communication and mutual support between members. Increasingly, communication is taking place through electronic mail and discussion lists, making it easier for you to be involved.

ALIA members can also access their membership record using our members-only web service, providing the ability to update details, pay fees, and access a range of services provided exclusively for ALIA members - from affinity programs to industrial relations advice.

What does it cost?

Membership fees vary according to the type of membership you require, your income and the time of year you join. Take a look at an overview of fees and payment options.

If you are already a member, and wish to make a renewal payment, you can now do so online. New members should contact us directly, or use the forms found through the other links on this page.

Upgrade your membership

You're currently a member and you've just graduated or completed your course.

You need to notify us of completion of your course or graduation.

Please download the upgrade form [112kb pdf] and send it to us along with a copy of your qualification or a transcript of your course if your qualification has yet to be conferred. A one off administration fee also applies.
