Apart from the summary material provided here, there is an extensive range of members-only pages containing detailed information and resources for ALIA members (employees and employers). The information provided covers topics such as changes to industrial relations laws, accidents at work, library workforce data and rights and obligations when facing redundancy.

Update: August - September

Australian library employees will be aware that the ALIA's employment pages are normally updated at this time of the year to reflect adjustments made to benchmark rates of pay for library workers. These adjustments reflect those awarded to librarians, library technicians and archivists working for the New South Wales Government, reflecting the landmark gender equity pay determination of 2002. ALIA has been advised that the 2008 Crown Employees pay case is not likely to be finalised until September.

As soon as new pay scales for New South Wales have been determined the ALIA website will be updated. Until then, pay scales applying from 1 July 2007 should be taken as the recommended levels for library workers throughout Australia. Pay scales and related work level guidelines are at www.alia.org.au/employment/salary.scales/roles.and.pay.html

Salary scales on the ALIA site also show salaries for teacher-librarians in government schools in all Australian states and territories. This part of the website has now been updated to show recent salary increases granted in Victoria.
